Boundaries for Federal Ridings splitting Fraser Heights

TO ALL RESIDENTS OF FRASER HEIGHTS COMMUNITY

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ELECTIONS CANADA IS REDRAWING BOUNDARIES FOR FEDERAL RIDINGS IN BC.  THIS AFFECTS YOU DIRECTLY AS THE PROPOSAL SPLITS FRASER HEIGHTS INTO TWO (2) SEPARATE RIDINGS.

ALL RESIDENTS WEST OF 168 ST WILL BE JOINED WITH SURREY CENTRAL.

ALL RESIDENTS EAST OF 168 ST WILL BE JOINED WITH PITT MEADOWS, PORT KELLS & FORT LANGLEY.

We, as a Fraser Heights Community Association are opposed to splitting up our community. We believe that while we will be joined with other Communities to form a Federal Government riding, we, as Fraser Heights, should remain intact as a community. Additionally, whatever Communities we are joined with to form the boundaries of our federal riding should be on the South side of the Fraser River.

You can voice your opinion on this matter. Included below is a link to a page that allows you to have input to the Elections Canada Committee, or you can simply send an email as is indicated below the link.  There will also be Hearings on September 13 at the Sheraton Guildford Hotel at 2 PM & 7 PM should you wish to speak to the Committee in person. You will need to preregister to speak at the Hearing. Information will be on the link.

We have met with & discussed this matter with our current MP Ken Hardie. He will be making a virtual presentation to the Committee on Sept 13 which will support our position for keeping Fraser Heights Community intact. He will also address other matters concerning the riding.

Potential wording for your email:

I, _            (insert name here) ___________________ of (insert address here), as a member of the Fraser Heights community, oppose the re-drawing of new Federal Ridings in such a way as to split up our community. I believe that the entire community north of Highway 1 from the Port Mann Bridge to Golden Ears Way should be in the same riding, along with other communities south of the Fraser River.

Yours sincerely,
